“If we wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time, what happens when you purge that rarely worn 80% and wear only what’s left 100% of the time?”

I asked myself this question at the start of 2015 and decided to seek out the answers in this fashion experiment. Everything I rarely wore has since been sold, given to friends, or donated to charity over the last 4 months. A single rail of clothes survived the purge.

This isn’t a capsule closet project. There are no out of season clothes hidden under a bed, or sent to the dark depths of walk-in closet. Everything that can be worn is either in my closet, or waiting to be laundered. While this is an experiment in wardrobe minimalism, I'm not counting hangers or using a formula for tops and bottoms. I think our individual lives are too diverse for rules like that. For me this process is an exercise in conscious consumerism, but more importantly about imagination and creativity - after all, who said minimalism had to be boring?

I hope this might be a source of inspiration to those curious about making a minimalist move of their own, but who fear losing their individuality along the way.
